Australia made an unbelievable comeback in the second ODI at Wellington to level the series 1-1 with one match to go. The Kangaroos were down and out during their chase of 282 and were reeling at 197-6, before all rounder Mitchell Marsh rescued them. Marsh, along with John Hastings put on a spirited stand to defy the Kiwi bowlers and take Australia home. The resilient partnership means that Australia’s hopes of winning the series are still alive.
The new Aussie opening combination of David Warner and Usman Khawaja began emphatically as the left-handers swayed the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the stadium. However, the gates opened up for New Zealand once Warner was dismissed for 98. The middle order crumbled before Mitchell Marsh saved the day with his unbeaten knock of 69.

Great innings Duke @johnhastings194! Produces his highest one-day score to get the Aussies home. #NZvAUS

David Warner missed his 6th ODI 100.
It could have been his quickest 100 had he got it (98 in 79 balls!)
Had made a 92b 100 v Afg#NZvAus— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) February 6, 2016
I wasn’t expecting *that* ODI to finish like that either! #NZvAUS #omg

Hastings deserves a place in the side even after the return of Starc, Cummins & NCN. Shown enough grit against Ind & NZ. #NZvAUS #unsunghero

Though he didn’t get the Man-of-the-match at Canberra & Wellington, Hastings produced match-winning performances in both games. #NZvAUS

Hastings stood up in absence of Finisher Faulkner. Marsh played a gem too. Good win for the Aussies. Move to Wellington all square #NZvAUS
