Delhi Capitals (DC) kept their nerve in an exciting Eliminator clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Visakhapatnam to beat them by two wickets to progress to the Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, the last over of the match saw a drama unfold as the umpires adjudged Delhi batsman Amit Mishra out for obstructing the field.
Chasing 162, Prithvi Shaw gave Delhi Capitals a flying start adding 55 runs in the powerplays. He pierced the gaps with ease taking on Khaleel Ahmed and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But five wickets in quick succession left Delhi stranded. However, Rishabh Pant’s 21-ball 49 run knock almost took Delhi home, but the young batsman showed immaturity and got out in the penultimate over to make things tough for his team.
Mishra second batsman to out obstructing the field
With five runs needed off the last over, Amit Mishra and Keemo Paul were in the strike for the Delhi Capitals. Khaleel Ahmed started with a wide, but the original drama happened in the fourth ball of the over when the umpire adjudged Mishra out for obstructing the field. The veteran leg-spinner missed the ball and started running. The keeper threw it to the bowler, who was mid-pitch. The throw hit the batter who changed his way his direction mid-way. The turn of events compelled the Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketers to appeal for an obstructing the field out, and the third umpire gave him out. Thus, Amit Mishra became the second batsmen in IPL history to get out obstructing the field after Yusuf Pathan in the 2013 edition of IPL.
However, it didn’t matter to Delhi as Keemo Paul struck a boundary in the next ball to win it for his side in style.

Previously, Vijay Shankar’s late cameo helped Sunrisers Hyderabad post 162 runs on the board. He along with Mohammad Nabi added 45 runs in the death overs after Amit Mishra and Keemo Paul ran havoc in their batting order. After a flying start, Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson failed to get going before Shankar came and changed the momentum of the game.
