With the hosts taking up charge in the first match of the ICC World Cup 2019, Sunil Gavaskar has revealed England as his favourite to win the title. The English side has recently changed their way of the game plan. Three Lions have been impressive in the 50-over format of cricket.
The Eoin Morgan-led England has lost just five ODI matches out of 22 they’ve played. They have been paving their way to the World Cup trophy with great performances.
They came unfazed against the spearheads of Pakistan in the ODI series before heading for the mega-event.
England, not India, are the favourites for this World Cup: Sunil Gavaskar

Since the World Cup 2015, England has come up as one of the most aggressive players on the field. They have totally reformed themselves and are playing a totally different game, especially in ODIs.
With just 12 lost matches in the past two years, Eoin Morgan & Co. has been one of the few to be dominating.
Ahead of England’s opening match, Sunil Gavaskar has picked England over India as his favourite to win this time. He reasoned their recent excellent form and being the host as their strength to be the winners over the nine other.
“England, not India, are the favourites for this World Cup,” Gavaskar told AFP.
“They have been playing outstanding cricket over the last few years and in familiar home conditions will be hard to beat,” he added.
Further talking about India’s chances, the Indian legend Gavaskar said more will rely on skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli is ranked as the top ODI batsman and has had a good IPL before the showpiece event.
However, he also added that KL Rahul should probably fill the controversial number fourth position in the team. Kohli-led India is to open their game on June 5 against South Africa.
