English all rounder Ben Stokes had a wonderful day on the field. After an emphatic 89 run knock that kept England on top. After his display with bat, his day just got better with an impressive run out and two wickets with the ball.
But the moment of the day came when he took a one handed blinder at deep mid wicket. The athleticism on display was way beyond description. It is needless to say it is already one of the best catches in cricket history.
Ben Stokes awed everyone with his flying backward diving catch. What is exhilarating is the fact that he could balance himself after a really awkward position when he took the catch. The genius in him took the center stage as he did not spill the ball from his hand. The crowd in the stands are in awe as were the millions of people who are tuned into their television sets.

Although fielding standards had increased in cricket, this is alien stuff. It is a breathtaking effort and he deserves all the applaud. As a result of his all round performance, he was rightly awarded the Man of the match award.
The Perfect All round Performance
Even though, England were on back foot multiple times, Stokes was their savior on the day. When other batsmen were falling at crucial junctures, Stokes kept his cool and led England beyond par score.
He provided a perfect all round performance if there was any. The way he kept his cool at important phases says the level of maturity he attained in recent years. Even if England are a strong unit, they are not title favorites without Stokes.
He proved it again against South Africa. With Stokes in such incredible form, it definitely makes other teams think about him more now. If Stokes continues this form, then England will surely be clinching the title cometh mid July.

There's something wonderful about unusual crowd noises. For that Stokes catch, nobody cheered as normal. Thousands of people shouting "WHAAAAAAAAAT" at the same time.
