Bangladesh played fearless brand of cricket from first over. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar started on a positive note after being put to bat. But once the openers were dismissed, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim took charge.
Since they are experienced, both of them negotiated South Africa bowlers well. On the other hand, they also made sure run rate was not dipping. Their positive cricket saw Bangladesh have 142- run partnership for third wicket.
This is a record for any wicket in a world cup game for Bangladesh. Once they were dismissed, Mahmudullah’s played a quick knock. He scored 46 runs from just 33 balls. This propelled Bangladesh’s score to 330/8 in their 50 overs.

Chasing 331, South Africa started off cautiously. However, as they are settling in, Quinton de Kock was run out. Aiden Markram and Faf du Plessis carried the innings forward. But both players were dismissed after getting starts.
David Miller, JP Duminy and van der Russen, all got starts. But no one managed to score a big hundred on the day. Eventually, South Africa fell short of the target by 21 runs. This is a historic win for Bangladesh and they will continue to build on this win.
