Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni‘s name has been making rounds in media for the last few days. The 37-year old was seen wearing a Balidaan badge gloves in the match against South Africa.
Ever since the controversy erupted, the cricketing world are weighing in their opinions. Former cricketers, fans are discussing on the topic. The badge row has erupted after ICC requested BCCI to direct MS Dhoni about gloves.
The apex body asked BCCI to regulate player from wearing those gloves again. However, BCCI had responded to the request and asked ICC in return to let Dhoni continue to don the gloves.
“The ICC has responded to the BCCI to confirm the logo displayed by MS Dhoni in the previous match is not permitted to be worn on his wicket-keeping gloves at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019,” said ICC in a media release.

“The regulations for ICC events do not permit any individual message or logo to be displayed on any items of clothing or equipment. In addition to this, the logo also breaches the regulations in relation to what is permitted on wicketkeeper gloves,” added ICC.
The International Cricket Council has revealed that players are forbidden from wearing such logos in cricket matches. This sparked controversy all over the social media. From Sunil Gavaskar to Rohit Sharma, everyone are queried about this controversy.
However, in a twist to the entire tale, the Indian Army have now revealed that they are unsure of what is on Dhoni’s gloves. Meanwhile, Dhoni had the Special Forces insignia on his glove against South Africa.
But with latest inputs from Army, the debate could be put to bed.
The Army says the Balidaan medal does not have a maroon background in Dhoni’s case. The Indian wicket keeper batsman should be able to continue wearing the medal if Army suggests that it is not Balidaan medal.

“Balidan medal has a maroon background and has metal on top. It is supposed to be placed on the chest. Without the maroon background, the insignia is not complete,” Army sources were quoted as saying by The Week.
MS Dhoni was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment in 2011. He also underwent basic training with Para Brigade in 2015. India are set to take on Australia on Sunday.
Everyone are excited to see MS Dhoni’s gloves at The Oval. On the other hand, Australia will give a tough fight for India and it promises to be blockbuster of a contest.
