India have dominated Australian bowlers after choosing to bat first on Sunday. Both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started off cautiously. They weathered off the storm in the initial overs. Both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins could not inflict any damage in the opening spell.
Once the opening spell was completed, Shikhar Dhawan was the first to break the shackles. The southpaw was in prime form and accelerated very quickly. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma took his time to get going.

But he soon followed suit and started hitting boundaries after the initial phase. The duo managed to put up their 16th century stand and gave India solid start. But Rohit Sharma was dismissed after reaching his fifty.
Shikhar Dhawan continued his onslaught against Australian bowlers. While he was playing his shots, Virat Kohli slowly got settled in. The duo took risks only when needed. Once Dhawan reached his hundred, he started playing his shots.
Virat Kohli continued to play anchor role, while Dhawan took the attack to the bowlers. Dhawan reached his third World Cup hundred and soon got dismissed. India took the gamble and sent Hardik Pandya at No.4.

The attacking batsman took little time before he got going. Soon Hardik Pandya started big hits and India cruised to 300 in no time. On the other hand, Virat Kohli took odd risk to get the boundary and India put a complete display with the bat. MS Dhoni also played a cameo at the end after Pandya’s dismissal.
Eventually India finished with an impressive 352/5 at the end of their 50 overs. Australia will need to play at their best to stand a chance to chase this total down.

Noticed it for quite a number of times with Kohli on non-striker's end, that he's way more excited for his partner's century than the partner himself. I love this Kohli.#INDvAUS

Great work from Kohli to create a single out of nothing for Dhawan's century. Playing at a whole different level is Virat. #AUSvIND
