India were asked to bat first by Pakistan at Manchester. The Men in blue were dominant with the bat from the start. Newly promoted opener KL Rahul started cautiously while Rohit Sharma took on Pakistan bowling.
The duo were brilliant with the bat as they ensured that India got a solid foundation. They managed an impressive 136 run stand for the first wicket. Although, KL Rahul is a whole different player to Shikhar Dhawan, he did a commendable job in tricky conditions.
Rahul was dismissed by Wahab Riaz in the 24th over. He was out for a well made 57 runs. On the other hand, despite Rahul’s wicket, Rohit Sharma just went on with his innings. He got ample support from skipper Virat Kohli at number three.
Rohit Sharma scored his second hundred in world cup 2019.
The elegant Rohit Sharma continue to toy with Pakistan bowlers. He made a very good 140 run knock from just 113 balls. His innings had 14 fours and 3 sixes. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli played the role of an anchor. He ticked the singles and rotated the strike to Rohit Sharma and then to Hardik Pandya.

However, in the process of his innings, Virat Kohli became the fastest to reach 11000 ODI runs. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya once again came at number four to increase the scoring rate. Although, he did play his part, he was not quite effective as he was against Australia.
India scored 305/4 in 46.4 overs before rain stopped play. Skipper Virat Kohli is still going strong with an unbeaten 71. He is partnered with new comer Vijay Shankar at the other end. Even though Pakistan’s Amir did a good job, India were on top. They ensured that the team are in commendable position before rain came.
However, the match resumed after almost an hour delay due to rain. India had finished with 336/5 at the end of the innings.
Rohit Sharma proved his worth with 140. Meanwhile, the innings once again proves India’s reliance on top order. All three players were in impressive form, which should be a positive sign for India. Especially the way, KL Rahul played will leave India fans in good mood as Dhawan continues his recovery.

The greatness of Rohit Sharma lies in the fact that whenever he gets out after making a ton, people are disappointed that he didn't make a double century.#INDvPAK#CWC19

Strange team selections by Pakistan in this tournament:
Play an extra seamer versus a team that is brought up on pace-bowling
Then they play an extra spinner against a team that can play spin-bowling in their sleep#CWC19 #INDvPAK— Saj Sadiq (@SajSadiqCricket) June 16, 2019

Vijay Shankar nicely judged the length of the ball, and used the breadth of his bat to hit the ball to an ideal depth for a single.
