India dominated Pakistan once again in a world cup match. Despite many expectations on a close contest, India simply outdid Pakistan in all the three departments.
After winning the toss, Sarfaraz Ahmed decided to bowl first. Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were impressive with their approach. Both the players were cautious in their batting and took no risks.
They put up a 136 run stand for the opening wicket. Meanwhile, KL Rahul who was promoted to open, scored his first World Cup fifty on the day. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma looked at his best in this world cup.
He scored 140 runs and got ample support from skipper Virat Kohli. Few knocks in the lower order coupled with Virat Kohli’s impressive batting helped India post a commendable 336/5 in their 50 overs. Mohammad Amir was the best bowler for Pakistan with three wickets.
While chasing 337, Indian bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah started off well. However, Bhuvneshwar got injured in the fifth over. Vijay Shankar was called on to complete the reminder of the over. But the talented all rounder dismissed Imam Ul Haq with his first ball in world cup cricket.
But Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman have built a good partnership for the second wicket. Both the players laid foundation but too much of time to build it. Eventually, both the players succumbed to the magic of Kuldeep Yadav succession.
On the other hand, Mohammed Hafeez and Shoaib Malik were dismissed off successive deliveries in Hardik Pandya over. This had literally put curtains on any hopes of Pakistan’s win.
Indian bowlers completely dismantled Pakistan middle order batting in no time.
Vijay Shankar then came onto scalp Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz’s wicket. But rain gods once again made their appearance on the day. They were reeling at 166/6 in 35 runs at the time of rain interruption.
Revised target for Pakistan meant they need to score 136 runs from just 30 balls. India eventually won the game with 89 runs.

Hopefully, Pakistan today will learn that selections based on emotions do not work in sports. #IndvPak #CWC19

Only 2 players from Pakistan would get in the India squad .. but probably not even in the team .. #Amir #Azam .. India just too good .. #CWC19

One of the main bowlers injured, main opener injured and Kohli self declared out at the death – still India is winning. That tells how good this team is!!#INDvPAK #CWC19

Dhawans not playing.Kohli walked off without touching the ball.Bhuvi didn't even bowl three overs.Dhoni made a mistake not to review against Babar. If Pakistan can't win this after all this…they're just shit ?#CWC19 #IndiaVsPakistan pic.twitter.com/gi8g2WrePJ

Almost after every over Dhoni has a word with Kohli or other team-mates. Guiding them, encouraging them, giving them a pat on the back or a reminder of what they need to do – this was missing when Pakistan was in the field from their senior players #INDvPAK #CWC19

A lesson for the selectors,
Select players on the basis of talent, not XYZ. ?#PakvIND #CWC19— Ihtisham Ul Haq (@iihtishamm) June 16, 2019

India's selection has been spot on. Have to hand it to Kohli. Playing Bhuvi ahead of Shami at the start of the World Cup and staying with Kuldeep today.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 16, 2019
It's so poetic that Kuldeep is the one to dismiss Fakhar today given the role he had to play in getting the wristies in..

Replaced injured Shikhar Dhawan, replaced injured Bhuvi to get his first ball of the World Cup and takes a wicket on it. When life gives you opportunity grab it like Vijay Shankar? #INDvPAK #INDvsPAK #IndiaVsPakistan pic.twitter.com/8qvfvtR7ER
