Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma has wished for speedy recovery of his batting partner Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw was ruled out for the reminder of world cup after sustaining a thumb injury.
Shikhar Dhawan is one of the best batsmen in world cricket over the last five to six years. He is one of the key players for India in the ongoing world cup. However, his injury is a huge blow for India in the mega event.
While playing against Australia, Dhawan sustained the injury through a rising bouncer from Pat Cummins. However, the team physio immediately attended the player and Dhawan continued batting.
He went on to score a valiant century on the day and his knock proved to be the difference against Australia.
Along with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan formed the most formidable ODI opening pair since Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
The duo knew each other so well and compliment each other’s batting based on match situations. They scored 16 ODI century stands only next to legendary duo- Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
Although, India misses Shikhar Dhawan for this world cup, Rohit Sharma will now have to adapt to opening with KL Rahul for the remaining matches. The latter did a wonderful job against Pakistan.
But there are phases especially with running that the duo should be in sync. However, things will only get better for the pair as the matches progress. Rohit Sharma will have added responsibility along with captain Virat Kohli to ensure middle order is not exposed early in the innings.

In his absence, Rishabh Pant will be called into the squad for the rest of this world cup.
The talented youngster is slowly coming off age. He had a wonderful IPL and had also sealed his place in test team. Even though, Indian team are packed with match winners, Pant is a special talent.
His incredible hitting ability, will help against any opposition. He could be the trump card for India in crucial games as he can play match winning innings at ease when in form. India will play Afghanistan next on Saturday.
The men in blue are one of the favorites to win the world cup. But Shikhar Dhawan’s absence could hurt them in the knockout games.
