Well, perhaps, the world cup has started to deliver those unexpected games to the fans. After Sri Lanka winning it against England team, now, Afghanistan stole the show in the first innings of the game. The spinners Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and a brilliant captaincy from Gulbadin Naib did the trick for Afghanistan.
Initially, it was the Indian team skipper Virat Kohli, who won the toss, elected to bat first. The start wasn’t good for the team, as Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed Rohit Sharma for a single digit score on the board.
Mohammad Nabi picked 2/33:
However, KL Rahul and the skipper Virat Kohli tried to settle things for the team. But, the poor stroke from KL Rahul changed the complexion of the game. He reverse-swept Nabi straight to the fielder, which saw India reeling with 2 wickets in the middle.

Despite that, Vijay Shankar and Virat Kohli repaired the work efficiently for the team. The duo stitched 58-run partnership for the third wicket before Vijay Shankar losing his wicket to Rahmat Shah. Then came MS Dhoni to the middle, who took time to settle in the crease failed to explode in the end.
In between, there came the shocker for the Indian team when Virat Kohli handed a catch at point of Nabi over. Things never looked good for Team India as Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav failed to rotate strike at a good run rate.

On the other hand, Afghanistan spinners found the grip on the ball, which further made things look bleak for the team. The Indian batsmen never got the balls in their zone to whack it over the park. In the end, all they managed was 224 on the board.

Last ball of 47th over. My son was praying that Kedar should not take single so Hardik Pandya gets strike. Can imagine his frustration #IndvAfg
He said he will run into the TV and hit Kedar if he retains strike. And he was relieved when it was a dot ball ?? pic.twitter.com/wsySoxmTYK— Prabhu (@Cricprabhu) June 22, 2019

Indian innings on this pitch highlights difference between @imVkohli — only one to play with fluency — and every other batsman

A spot of bother for India. Will test 5,6,7 now. Remember, it is a long tail today without Bhuvi. Need 250.

Grit and application. Well played Kedar Jadhav!

Well played @JadhavKedar gritty knock under pressure! The afghani bowlers have bowled really well according to there plans, and some really good variations ! Can india ?? defend this total ? ?

Too many dot balls once @imVkohli got out. India will end up probably 30-40 short of what could have been but it’s a good challenge for the Indian bowlers to win it from here #INDvsAFG
