21-year-old Mehidy Hasan Miraz was struck in the side of his head by a ball during Bangladesh’s practice session. The Tigers are currently in Southampton, preparing for the clash against Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup. It is understood that the all-rounder is out of danger.

Mehidy hit by injury during practice session
The Asian team has been hit by a string of injuries in recent past. Opener Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mashrafe Mortaza are all carrying certain injuries but they have played an integral part in the tournament so far.
Mehidy was keen on batting in the nets but he wasn’t allowed to continue. A concussion report will be issued soon. The incident took place while the cricketer was giving an interview in the sidelines. Hasan hasn’t been at his best in the ongoing tournament. He has scalped five wickets from as many games. With the bat too, he wasn’t able to contribute wholly.

Bangladesh hit by a string of injuries
”He [Mehidy] was hit by a ball but as far as I know he is fine at the moment,” said head coach Steve Rhodes, giving much hope to the spirited fans. Earlier, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain missed out on playing against Australia. Bangladesh raised hopes by beating the Windies comprehensively. Chasing a 300-plus total, veteran cricketer Shakib Al Hasan hit his second hundred and was well supported by Liton Das. They are still in the reckoning for a semi-finals berth.

The Tigers will take on Afghanistan next
Afganistan, on the other hand, came agonizingly close to beating India in Southampton. They eventually lost the game by 11 runs as Mohammed Shami bagged a hat-trick. The newcomers in world cricket would fancy their chances of beating Bangladesh as the clash promises to be an exciting one.
