Finally, the England team is back on the track in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. The brilliant batting display by the opening batsman Jonny Bairstow alongside the other batsmen have helped them to post a massive tally before bowlers delivering under the pressure. Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan highlights the importance of every game.

Firstly, Jonny Bairstow smashed a sensational hundred before being dismissed to Mohammed Shami. The comeback batsman Jason Roy and the all-rounder Ben Stokes also showed their class with their willows. As usual, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes have been brilliant.

While defending the tally, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett have been brilliant for England. They made India stay on the back foot to see England cruising to the victory.

Indian spinners were taken on – Eoin Morgan

Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan, in the post-match presentation quoted that the batsman has been brilliant for the team throughout the first innings. He is happy with the partnerships developed in the middle in the first innings of the game.

”Jason Roy coming back in and Jonny’s hundred was pleasing to watch. Partnerships throughout took us to a really formidable total. From overs 10-20 we got about 90-95 runs which is quite substantial. It lays a huge platform and the two main threats – the spinners of India were taken on.”

”Throughout the first innings, the constant feedback was that it was getting difficult to bat on with the ball gripping.  Hopefully, this is the brand of cricket that we want to play and it has taken off. The slower balls were gripping and were taking off the deck, so we weren’t really worried with that in the back of my head.”

On India’s approach to the chase:

Speaking of India’s chase, Eoin Morgan quoted that the bowlers of England have delivered extremely well, which made breathing tough for the Indian batsmen. He felt that the games in the world cup are going down to the wire, which needs attention.

”It didn’t really bother me. I was really happy with India’s approach sitting back. But our bowlers were superb. Liam (Plunkett) has been outstanding for us for the last four years, especially in the middle overs where it is really difficult to take wickets. There is absolutely no easy game in this tournament, as Pakistan’s game against Afghanistan showed yesterday. Every game in this World Cup has been extremely tough for everybody and it will go on like that,” he concluded.

However, it would be a relieving victory for England. Now, they need to take on New Zealand in order to seal a place in the semifinal. Their final game is scheduled to be played on July 3rd.
