Flamboyant Team India opener Rohit Sharma has gone past MS Dhoni to slam most ODI sixes on Tuesday (July 2). Rohit overtakes his teammate during their ICC World Cup 2019 game against Bangladesh at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Rohit has been in some prolific form at the top for India in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. He has slammed his fourth hundred of the twelfth edition while taking on the Tigers. During his 104-run knock off 92 deliveries, the right-handed batsman has slammed seven fours and five towering sixes.

Ahead of the India-Bangladesh ODI, Rohit had garnered 225 sixes in 212 ODIs. On the other side, Dhoni had 228 sixes to his name in 348 ODIs.

During his 26th ODI hundred, Rohit also eclipsed Dhoni’s 228 sixes while playing his 213th ODI.

The explosive opener Rohit has done an outstanding job by going past David Warner at the ongoing ICC event.

Now, he has 544 runs to his name in seven innings. During this, he has smashed 53 fours and 12 sixes.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper and all-rounder Shahid Afridi top the most sixes charts with 351 maximums in 398 ODIs.

Second on the list is none other than swashbuckling Windies opener Chris Gayle, who has 326 sixes under his belt in 297 ODIs.

Legendary Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya is third on the list with 270 sixes in 445 games.

Besides, Rohit is first from India on the fourth spot with 230 sixes. However, their see-saw battle for most sixes will continue as they’re pretty close in terms of ODI sixes.

Rahul, who played a cautious innings saw it laced with sixes fours and a solitary six which saw his strike-rate of 83.70.

Rishabh Pant scored fine 41-ball 48 before Dhoni added 35 off 33 deliveries.

Thus, India ends up with 314 for nine in 50 overs. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman starred with the ball. He has bagged a five-wicket haul for giving away 59 runs in his quota of ten overs.
