Team India skipper Virat Kohli, who wears a heart on his sleeve, had earlier breached Level 1 of the world cricket governing body; ICC’s Code of Conduct. Well, besides that, Kohli has thrown tantrums during India-Bangladesh clash at the Edgbaston in Birmingham on Tuesday (July 3).
The batting giant Kohli is in a spot of bother before the semi-finals, going by his aggressive nature Kohli, has somewhat expressed disappointment with the results going other way around.
Article 2.1 of the ICC’s constitution falls in line with the ‘Players and Player Support Personnel. Subsequently, it’s related to the excessive appealing from players during the game.
However, going by it, Kohli would end up getting banned if he happens to continue with excessive appealing against Sri Lanka. India had already become the second team to make it to the semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2019 after Australia.
India beat the Tigers by 28 runs in Birmingham, to claim 13 points in eight matches. Also, they’re second on the points table as Aussies lead with 14 points in eight fixtures.
How Virat Kohli landed himself into trouble?

The incident happened during the 12th over of Bangladesh’s innings when Soumya Sarkar was facing Mohammed Shami. Shami, who has been in some form. Shami, who bowled a delivery which wrapped on Sarkar’s pad. However, the senior-most umpire Marias Erasmus has straight away nodded his head in England’s favour.
Following the on-field decision, animated as ever Kohli has turned upstairs to take the help of Decision Review System (DRS).
However, third umpire Aleem Dar was quick to uphold the decision to which Kohli showed dissent before having a brief chat with on-field umpires.
It came after the replays suggested that ball had struck bat and pad simultaneously which has allowed the television umpire — to give the benefit of the doubt to the batsman, Sarkar.
As India lost its review, Kohli looked visibly frustrated. He then had a keen look at the giant screen before assuming that the ball had brushed the pad first.
Also, Kohli had a brief chat with the umpires during the drinks break. As they conversed with each other, Kohli also beamed a smile.
Earlier, Kohli had also been involved in a debate with the on-field umpires during India’s game Afghanistan in Southampton. Also, he had face 25 per cent of fine from his match fee. Thus, for excessive appealing, he had also bagged a demerit point.
It came under the revised ICC’s Code of Conduct. The particular programme came to the fore in September 2016.
Since January 2018, Kohli has bagged two demerit points after bagging one against South Africa during a Test fixture the African soil.
