On Wednesday, the England and Wales Cricket team became the third team to be qualified for the semifinals of the tournament. Meanwhile, the former skipper of England Michael Vaughan is pumped up for the way England displaying their cricketing skills. Hoping the same result, he challenged India in the semifinal.

While New Zealand is not officially confirmed as semi-finalists, the absurd permutation and combination for Pakistan to qualify for the top-four makes the scenario all but clear.

Australia and India have one more match to play against their respective opponents and if both the teams win their respective games then Australia will go on to face fourth-placed New Zealand while India will lock horns with hosts England in the semi-finals.

Earlier, England got the upper hand on the Indian team. A lot of controversies have also surrounded as well. A section of people felt that the Indian team has lost the game intentionally, as it would make things tough or Pakistan to enter into semifinals.

Chasing 338 for victory, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav showed absolutely no intent in the death overs, took singles and played out dot balls instead of trying to hit the big shots as the team eventually lost by 31 runs and suffered their first loss of the tournament in seven matches.

Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan, who was pretty excited after the victory against New Zealand quoted that the England team is ready to face any opposition. During the course, he expressed his confidence of winning the game against India, who would face them in semifinals at Birmingham.

His tweet read ”Great performance .. Strong mentality over the last few days .. Bring on #India in Birmingham.”

While some fans of the Eoin Morgan-led outfit backed Vaughan’s open challenge, others felt it is just sheer over-confidence on Vaughan’s part and India will go on to thrash the hosts in the highly-anticipated semi-finals.
