Tunisia Defender Dylan Bronn’s own goal in the extra time sends Senegal into the final.

An intense game of football which saw two penalties saved at both ends in normal time. A late penalty scrapped away from Tunisia by VAR. 0-0 at full time, leading the game to extra time. An own goal by Tunisia in the extra time to send Senegal into their second consecutive AFCON finals. And hence a game filled with drama and action.

Senegal started the game very well with full attacking prowess, causing much trouble to the Tunisian defence. Tunisia were however good at counter attacks. Sadio Mane had the best chance of the game, missing out a one vs one against the goalkeeper. Senegal laid in seven shots in the first half itself, yet they couldn’t score.

The second half saw Tunisia improving and having better control at their ball possession. They were awarded a penalty for Ferjani Sassi’s effort which struck Kalidou Koulibaly’s arm. Koulibaly was shown a yellow card and will miss the final against Algeria.

Saasi who took the penalty, saw it saved by Senegal goalkeeper Alfred Gomis. He took a very poor shot lacking power and Gomis easily judged the direction and grasped the ball into his safe arms. Only four minutes later Senegal were handed a penalty when Ismaila Sarr was brought down by Dylan Bronn. Henri Saivet took charge of the penalty but couldn’t strike it past Tunisian goalkeeper Mouez Hassen, who made a perfect super save.

The game ended at 0-0 after the second half, leading to an extra time of play. Senegal stormed in attacks while Tunisia took their chances at counter attacks. A penalty awarded to Tunisia was overturned by VAR.

A freekick awarded to Senegal near the half line for a foul was perfectly placed by Sadio Mane. The goalkeeper missed the ball which went past to hit his own player Dylan Bronn who was unaware of the ball, which deflected from him inside their own net.

Senegal will face Algeria in the finals of Africa Cup of Nations 2019 on Saturday, 20/07.  Algeria beat Nigeria 2-1 in the dying minutes of the game, by an amazing free kick goal by Riyad Mahrez.
