Prithvi Shaw looks set to miss yet another international series due to an injury as the right-handed batsman, while giving an update on his fitness, said that he is not fully fit at the moment. It clearly means that he will not be selected in the Test squad for the series against West Indies, that starts next month.

“I am not fully fit at the moment. I am doing my rehabilitation for a hip injury that I sustained at the Mumbai T20 league. Even I don’t know when I will be fit,” Shaw said at an event today.
He was a part of India A squad for the West Indies tour but had to be withdrawn from the team. The BCCI did not mention Shaw’s injury but the teenage batsman has himself revealed that he is recovering from a hip issue that he had suffered during Mumbai T20 League.

Shaw has played two Test matches so far. He had a dream Test debut against West Indies last year as he entered the Test arena with a century. He also bagged Man of the Series award for scoring 237 runs in two-Test series.
He looked set for a tough series against Australia but suffered an ankle injury during the practice match that ruled him out of the complete series.
Shaw made his comeback in the season and also played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019. The teenager looked set to make his international comeback for West Indies tour but could now miss the upcoming series.

In his absence, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul look set to open the innings in the Caribbean islands. India may not name a third opener as Hanuma Vihari can also be asked to open innings if there is a need for that. He and Mayank had kicked off proceedings in the Boxing Day Test against Australia last year.

The Indian selection panel is set to name the squad for the West Indies tour later this week and it is expected that the selectors will name all the three squads on the same day.
Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are in line to be rested for the complete tour. In Kohli’s absence, Rohit will lead India in limited-overs series while Ajinkya Rahane will take the charge in the longest format of the game. India play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests against Jason Holder and co.
