India is ready to face South Africa on 2nd October at Visakhapatnam. The three-match Test series will be played in the absence of the yorker king Jasprit Bumrah. His presence will be missed by the Virat Kohli-led team. The legend Sachin Tendulkar feels the same but opines that Indian team has backup players.

Jasprit Bumrah was detected with a minor stress fracture at the lower back during the routine radiological screening. So, he will miss out the Test series against South Africa and Umesh Yadav is given chance. Sachin, speaking to IANS, said that it is obvious that such a talent will be missed by the team. But has confidence in the bowling department that can fill up the space of his absence.

“When it comes to Bumrah, you are surely going to miss someone of his calibre when he is forced to sit away from cricket for some time because of his injury. But, I feel the Indian team does have the back-up strength as far as our fast bowling department is concerned. It looks pretty good to me and so is the spin bowling department.”

World Test Championship is important says, Sachin Tendulkar

“I think the World Test Championship is important, more so for spectators as they would be following each and every match. I believe the last six months are going to get really exciting because many numbers will come into play. WTC means a lot to everyone and that includes cricketers also. I know cricketers will go out to win each and every match and at no stage, the rubber will be dead.

India would have an advantage in the series

Sachin Tendulkar talks about the Test Match against South Africa. The Proteas team is under the transition period as inexperienced but talented players are given place in the team. According to Sachin, the visitors will not give a tough fight because of inexperienced batters in the team. The bowling department of South Africa is strong which can trouble the Indian batsmen.

“I have to say there are some good bowlers (in the Proteas team) so one would have to be on their toes and build partnerships,” he said

“This series is going to be a decent series. South Africa has very few batters who have come here and played in the longer format. So, somewhere they will have to make a lot of adjustments and change their thinking and game.”
