The Indian captain Virat Kohli got back into form in style as he scored his 26th Test century. It was a typical Kohli’s innings as he took his time in the initial phase. The right-hander was able to hit the ground running. The Indian captain came to the crease after the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara. Thus, the right-hander helped India in rebuilding the innings.

The talisman scored 16 fours in his sublime knock as he batted at the top of his game. In fact, Kohli had gone 12 innings without scoring a century and thus ended his hundred drought in style. The linchpin batsman had scored his last century at Perth against Australia.

Kohli is super consistent.

Kohli and Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane have added a hundred run partnership. Hence, India is in a dominating position at 348-3.

Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world and his consistency in the game is second to none. Consequently, Kohli will look to continue his good form going.

On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane has also provided good support to his captain. Rahane took his time in the initial phase of his innings but he has looked more confident on the second day. The right-hander also completed his 20th half-century.

However, South Africa hasn’t had the rub of the green on their side as the edges haven’t carried to the slip cordon. The edges have fallen short of the slip fielders and both the batsmen have also played with soft hands.

Earlier, Mayank Agarwal scored a fine hundred on the opening day of the second Test match. Agarwal scored his second Test century and once again batted at the top of his game. The right-hander had to go through a stern examination against South African bowlers who tested him with short stuff.
