After Sourav Ganguly has taken the reigns of BCCI, everyone is expecting revolutions in Indian cricket. Ganguly has also proved to be a revolutionary after introducing new fashion of the Test cricket in India. The legend Sachin Tendulkar has also proposed to Ganguly to bring considerable changes in the domestic tournament, Duleep Trophy.

The Master Blaster has always been forward in recommending new ideas in Indian cricket. In an interview to PTI, Sachin Tendulkar opined that the players in the domestic tournament focus on individual performance rather than on putting team effort. He wants Ganguly to redecorate Duleep Trophy.

“I want him (Ganguly) to consider looking at the Duleep Trophy…I feel Duleep Trophy is one tournament where one is getting to hear that players are possibly more focused on their own performances and what the next tournament is and they play accordingly,” Sachin Tendulkar said.

According to Sachin, the selection of players, on the basis of their performance, in Duleep Trophy, shift the focus of the players from showing teamwork. So, the legend recommends some changes.

He suggests that four Ranji Trophy semifinalists including two teams of talented U-19 and U-23 players should join the Duleep Trophy so that the players learn to put their focus in overall team performance. He wishes that in the Annual General Meeting, Sourav Ganguly would discuss on this subject.

“This is one change I would like to see because cricket has always been a team sport. It is all about team spirit bonding and playing together as a team. Not as individuals,” he said.

Duleep Trophy is a first-class tournament that currently played by three teams India Blue, India Red and India Red. BCCI’s selectors choose the players in the team according to their performance. Currently, the defending champion of this trophy is India Red.
