Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out from the squad ahead of the West Indies T20i series because of injury. The opening batsman got hurt while playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Delhi against Maharashtra. He has been replaced by Sanju Samson for West Indies squad.
The team management needs to find the opening partner for Rohit Sharma. The replacement Sanju Samson is a middle-order batsman so the team will not give him the duty of opening.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has the experience of opening in the shortest format. In IPL, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli as an opener has gained the success. The skipper may become the partner of Rohit Sharma in the three-match T20I series against West Indies.
In the international career, Kohli has played as an opener in 13 limited-overs innings, including seven in T20Is.
If Virat Kohli promotes himself to the upper position, the middle order will be occupied by the youngsters Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey.
