With the victorious two-match Test ending on Sunday (24th November), India is now moving on to another T20 project. With skipper Virat Kohli back in the team, India is ready to take West Indies down at home. However, VVS Laxman believes that with the improving form of KL Rahul in the third position, he should open with Rohit Sharma in the upcoming West Indies series.
Meanwhile, India emerged victorious in the international cricket ever since their ouster from ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in July. Kohli-led team India totally dominated over Bangladesh in both the red-ball and the pink-ball Test games.
After the historic win in the day/night pink-ball Test, India will indulge with West Indies in three-match T20I and three-match ODI series in this December.
I believe that it is time that KL Rahul opens with Rohit Sharma – VVS Laxman

After the Bangladesh series got over, VVS Laxman has expressed his views on KL Rahul’s position in the team. The veteran Indian cricketer suggested that Rahul should play alongside Rohit Sharma and open the game.
Star Sports expert Laxman talking about KL Rahul said, “The big question is that with Virat Kohli back and K.L. Rahul doing a good job batting at number three so then where will he fit? I believe that it is time that K.L. Rahul opens with Rohit Sharma. I would definitely have Rahul open with Rohit for the West Indies Series.”
Rohit’s opening partner Shikhar Dhawan has been replaced by Sanju Samson. Dhawan injured his left knee while playing for Delhi against Maharashtra during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
On the other hand, the skipper Virat Kohli plays at number three. This only strengthens the possibility of Rahul opening the game with Rohit.

Meanwhile, the Test veteran also praised Shreyas Iyer who was quick to grab the opportunity in the Bangladesh series.
“I was very impressed with the way Shreyas Iyer has batted so far. The best part about him was when during the last T20 International in Nagpur when India lost their top 3 batsmen, he had the ability to assess the condition very well and was very versatile in his approach.
And when Rahul was the aggressor he played second fiddle and the moment Rahul got out and Rishabh Pant came to the crease under pressure and was not able to rotate the strike, Shreyas Iyer just registered that and changed his gear and that is what you want at a number four,” he said.
Showing his great form, KL Rahul has struck two half-centuries in six games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019/20. In the third game of the T20I series against Bangladesh, Rahul also scored 52 runs.
