The 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is reportedly to kick off in late March. The IPL season generally gets underway in April but it is going to be an exception this time around. In fact, the IPL had started on 23rd March in 2019. Meanwhile, the IPL auction will take place today at Kolkata today. As many as 338 players will go under the hammer today at the big event.

186 Indian players and 146 overseas will partake in the auction. On the other hand, there are only 73 spots up for grabs in the auction. Out of these 73 available spots, 29 places can be filled in by overseas players.

Auction to take place today in Kolkata.

The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Eoin Morgan and Aaron Finch are some of the big guns in the auctions. These players are expected to get huge bids under their belt.

On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to release the official schedule of the IPL. However, as per the reports in ESPN Cricinfo, the season is expected to start in the fag end of March. According to reports, the India board has set a date from March 28 to May 24 as the window for the tourney.

The foreign players are expected to arrive in India around April 1. The IPL governing council has also told all the eight teams that they are working out the dates for the next season.

Meanwhile, all the teams will be coming with all the strategies for the auction. It is well said that half of the battle is won or lost in the auction. Consequently, they would like to be on their toes in the auction. The current form and the remaining purse will be instrumental in team’s bidding for respective players.
