BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has praised Ravichandran Ashwin for becoming the highest wicket-taker of this decade. Following this, Ganguly also pointed out that the efforts of the spinner go unnoticed at times.
The tall spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is a crucial part of the Indian team, especially, his contribution in India is unmatchable. He has picked 362 wickets in 70 Tests, 150 wickets in 111 ODIs and 52 wickets in 46 T20Is. Seeing his statistics in the longest format, he can be called as the Test specialist wicket-taker. Also, he hasn’t featured in ODIs or T20Is since 2017.

At home this decade, he has claimed 254 Test wickets at 22.80 with 21 five-wicket hauls. He holds the record for the fastest Indian to complete 100 Test wickets. The Tamil Nadu ace is also the fastest bowler to pick up 250 and 300 Test wickets and is joint-fastest bowler, along with Muttiah Muralitharan, to take his 350th Test wicket.
As the year ends, Ravichandran Ashwin has picked up a staggering 564 international wickets this decade. England great James Anderson is second in the list of this decade with 535 international wickets.
The former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly took the twitter to praise Ashwin’s contribution in this decade, calling it “super stuff”. He feels that Ashwin’s accomplishment goes unnoticed at times.
“Most international wickets for Ashwin this decade @ashwinravi99 @bcci .. what an effort .. just get a Feeling it goes unnoticed at times .. super stuff ..”
