Indian players will participate in the Asia XI vs World XI which is scheduled to play next year in Bangladesh. BCCI joint secretary Jayesh George has confirmed that five Indian players will join the Asia XI squad.

Bangladesh will host two T20Is to celebrate the 100th birthday of their Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. International Cricket Council (ICC) has given international status to both the games which will be played on March 18 and 21, 2020 in Dhaka.

While there is no confirmation about the names of the players but according to reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to send major players like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Rohit Sharma.

Jayesh George has confirmed that five Indian players will be sent but said BCCI president Sourav Ganguly would take the final call.

“Our board has decided to send five players. It has been left to the BCCI president (Sourav Ganguly) to decide which five players would go to Bangladesh,” he told bdcrictime.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chaudhary also talked about the two-match series and added that the board had requested all the Asian countries to send players based on their availability.

“These two T-20 matches will be played between March 18 to 22. We have requested all Asian countries to send few players and depending upon their players’ availability, the teams would participate,” he said before adding: “The Rest of the World XI will be chosen by the BCB.”

Also, in March, the Men in Blue will play three-match ODI series against South Africa, which will be touring India. The three-match ODI series ends on March 18, the same day the special T20I series in Bangladesh starts. It will be interesting to see whether Ganguly allows big names or not.
