New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is a true gentleman of the game. Williamson is well known for his true sportsmanship and he always plays the game in the right spirit. In fact, Williamson rubs on the same energy to his teammates and New Zealanders are always known to be the good boys of the game. Another nice gesture was on display from Kane Williamson after the conclusion of the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne.
Kane Williamson went to the section of the New Zealand supporters and thanked them for all the support despite the loss against Australia. Williamson said that the support right throughout the Test match was amazing. The Kiwis were blown away by the Tim Paine-led side as Australia won by a gargantuan margin of 247 runs. Thus, Australia has taken an impregnable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series.
Williamson once again wins hearts.
“I know we are circled by authorities, and I hope you are all behaving. But the support around this Test match has truly been special and the guys hugely appreciate it. I imagine footballers feel a little bit like this, despite the result. But passion has been truly inspiring. We want to thank you guys,” Williamson said in his address to a section of the New Zealand fans at the MCG.
Subsequently, the crowd gave a standing ovation to Kane Williamson. It was a great gesture from the New Zealand skipper as the supporters would have been disappointed after a dismal performance from their team. Travis Head was awarded the Man of the Match award for scoring a fine knock of 114 runs.
Kane’s gesture was appreciated on social media.
“How good is that !!! What a star Kane is,” a user tweeted sharing the video.
Another fan said: “King Kane! Every time he sets the bar so high being a leader and the way he carries himself. So much the younger generation and the current can learn from him.”
Meanwhile, Australia had won the first Test match at Perth by 296 runs. The third and final Test match will take place at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3.
