On the occasion of the new year, the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar said that the year and next decade should be about children. He said that being the future of the nation, it would be apt if they would be allowed to freely express themselves without fearing anyone.
The legendary Indian cricketer also stresses the importance of sports in everyone’s life, all the while discussing the various issues that are part of the game.
“The year 2020 and the decade that follows, should be about children. By spending time, showering love and letting them know it’s okay to make mistakes — we can enable them to dream big,” Tendulkar said on New Year’s Eve.
Sachin said that people should indulge in kids’ health, and education to empower them to facilitate them to achieve dreams. Further, he talked about the important role played by the neighbours in creating safe playing spaces for the kids.
“By investing properly in their health, nutrition, and education — we can empower them to achieve their dreams. If we all take responsibility for our neighborhoods to create safe playing spaces, it will go a long way in transforming our society,” he said.

Talking further, Tendulkar said the role played by sports in nurturing the nature and future of children is of utmost importance. Meanwhile, he goaded the adults to let out their inner kid and learn the two most essential qualities, ‘curiosity and enthusiasm’, from them.
“Sports not only keep our children active and healthy, but they also inculcate teamwork and teach them about interpersonal relationships. All children should receive equal opportunities in all walks of life and shouldn’t be discriminated against,” he pointed.
“I also wish for every adult to bring out the ‘child’ in them. Curiosity and enthusiasm are two qualities we can all learn from children and these are essential to keep us happy and engaged in all that we do. Wishing everyone a happy and joyous New Year!” he said.

India prepping for first two home assignments of the year:
India had a high end in 2019 with bagging a valiantly fought series-decider ODI game against West Indies in December. However, now the Virat Kohli & Co. will be heading to battle against Sri Lanka and Australia in the back-to-back home limited-overs series. Sri Lanka will be visiting India in early January for T20Is, while Australia will try their ODI luck against the hosts from 14th Jan at Wankhede Stadium.
