The Wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel believes that his national teammate Wriddhiman Saha is the No.1 wicketkeeper in Test cricket. He has faith in Saha’s techniques and expressed that nobody can replace him when it comes to wicketkeeping.

Wriddhiman Saha, who recently returned in the Indian team during the South Africa Test series, had impressed with his fitness. He took some stunning catches, which were unbelievable. He was benched when Indian tour the Caribbean land. But Rishabh Pant’s unimpressive performances brought the chance to experienced Wriddhiman Saha. Now, Saha is permanent in the Indian Test side.

Parthiv Patel, who is currently playing the Ranji Trophy match for Gujarat, said that Saha is the best wicketkeeper in the world right now as he is unbeatable in techniques.

“Obviously, Wriddhi is the best wicketkeeper in the world at the moment. His technique, wicketkeeping style, the way he takes catches and his energy on the field make him the best. So no doubt, he’s the best.”

“I have been on some tours with him and practiced with him too. The way he goes about his business puts him above the rest,” Parthiv Patel told reporters at the Eden Gardens as quoted by Telegraph India.

“Wriddhiman Saha is the first choice in Tests”

Patel said that Saha is unreplaceable in India’s Test team. He also had a word of advice for Rishabh Pant who lost his place in the Test team. Rishabh Pant should not take lightly the opportunities which he is getting in the national team, Parthiv commented.

“Wriddhi knows what his job is. No one needs to tell him anything. The way he has performed behind the stumps, he will remain India’s first choice in Tests,” said Parthiv Patel.

“When you are on the national team, you need to concentrate on your game and look to cash in on the opportunity… Just look to enjoy the occasion. That you are in the team means you have the backing of the team management and the selectors. So, just look to express yourself,” he added while talking about Pant.

Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha will likely get the place in the Test team when India will tour New Zealand at the end of January.
