There is a special connection between Indian cricketers and Bollywood stars that most of the cricketers end up with their name tagged with a Bollywood star. The recent obsession for the cricket and Bollywood fans are the Indian cricketer KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty, the Bollywood actress and the daughter of Suniel Shetty.
Rahul and Athiya, The two have been in the news for quite some time and were seen spending time with each other. However, the famous Bollywood star Sunil Shetty has given his approval over his kids’ relationships. He clearly stated that he is happy for his children and that their counterparts ‘fit into the family like gloves’.
Meanwhile, Rahul and Athiya just returned from their New Year getaway in Thailand. The pictures from their vacation have gone viral all over the internet. Rahul’s recent post on his Instagram profile has set the rumours of the two datings into the bizarre fire. In the picture shared by the right-hander, the two were standing in a telephone booth to which the cricketer had captioned as “Hello, Devi Prasad….?”.
The caption refers to the 2000 classic comedy Bollywood movie Hera Pheri, starring Suniel, alongside Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Tabu. Both father Suniel and brother Ahan Shetty commented with laughing emojis while several cricketers also commented on his post.

During the interview with The Times of India, the famous actor of the ’90s has fanned the rumours of Athiya dating someone in actual. During the interview, Suniel said that he and his wife Mana Shetty are extremely fond of his kids’ partners. While Athiya is rumoured to be dating Rahul, his son Ahan Shetty has been with Tania Shroff for quite some time now.
“We (he and wife Mana Shetty) love the kids and the kids they are dating. Absolutely love them and I think more than a profession, being happy in life is very important today because that is the space I think that is missing. We were all happy, we grew up happy,” he said.
The 58-year-old actor expressed his love and happiness to see his kids happy with their partners and that they belong to brilliant families. In the interview, he said that it is essential for the parents to evolve according to the world and see where the happiness of their kids lies.
“I love Ahan’s girlfriend and I love whom Athiya is seeing. I do not have a problem with that, Mana doesn’t have a problem with that and they are happy… We are blessed that they are from brilliant families and so humble and fit into the family like gloves,” he said.
In the meantime, KL Rahul is back from the New Year getaway and will be gearing up for the upcoming two home assignments of the India National Cricket Team in January. India will host a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka that will start from Jan 5 while Australia will visit India for as many ODI matches commencing from 14 Jan.
