Dale Steyn, Melbourne Stars

South African cricket team is currently under transition period as some of their experienced players have retired from the game. However, there is positive news for the team as the veteran Dale Steyn is coming back in the T20 side. The faltering team has now got a pillar whose assistant will help them to get back the momentum.

The pacer is making comeback in the South African team as he will play the forthcoming home T20I series against England. But his main motive is to be the part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 which is scheduled in Australia this year.

“I know I’ll be part of (the T20 series against England), that was the last conversation I’ve had. I get a nice two-week break, then straight into it again. I’ll be around for the ODIs, to be honest, I don’t know how much I’ll play (the ODIs),” Dale Steyn said.

”I’ll be there for that and then definitely the T20s. That (T20 World Cup) is very much on my agenda. I’m starting to enjoy my cricket a lot more now; I think four overs is a lot easier on the body than the Test matches are,” Steyn remarked.

Kagiso Rbada Needs Someone Experienced: Dale Steyn

Dale Steyn last played with the team in March 2019. He was ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 due to shoulder injury. Now, he won’t want to miss another big assignment.

After playing the Mzansi Super League 2019, he is currently busy playing the Big Bash League (BBL). He opines that there is a need for experienced players in the current South Africa team. Also, he feels there is a lot of pressure on the youngster Kagiso Rabada. Besides that, Steyn wants to give his best and then wait for the team management to take the decision on his selection in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020.

“KG (Kagiso Rabada) is very young to lead the attack at 24, and the next bowlers to come in are all younger than him, I think he needs somebody that’s there that is experienced, to look around and he knows he’s not only one there.”

”So I’m putting my hand up for that, and then I’ll wait and see how selections go. After the MSL (Mzansi Super League) that we played, there were a lot of players that come out some fantastic bowlers,” Steyn said.
