Hair Dryer, Vaccum Cleaner and Iron were used to drying the wet patch during the first T20I match against Sri Lanka in Guwahati. The match was afterwards abandoned without any ball played because of a small mistake. It became a subject of laughter as the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) used these types of equipment.

Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss of Team India’s first match of 2020 and decided to bat first. Soon after the toss, the clouds returned as it was raining in the evening in Guwahati. The pitch was covered immediately but all the efforts went into vain. The rain stopped after one hour, the spectators had hope that the match would start but after umpire inspected the pitch, a damp patch was formed some meters away from the stumps.

ACA brought all the equipment possible to dry the spot. First vacuum cleaners were used, then steam iron and at the last hair dryer was used. But nothing can let the game to start on time. After the final inspection, umpires finally decided to declare the match abandoned.

Now, It has become a subject of laughter in social media. The fans trolled Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on twitter targeting the modern technique of BCCI. Where does BCCI use the money, some twitter user asked.

Now, the series is reduced to two matches. India and Sri Lanka will head to play the second T20I match in Holkar Stadium, Indore.
