The team management and selectors have now a big responsibility to choose between KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma that who will become the partner of Rohit Sharma in T20I. There is a lot of talk going around about which partnership will be chosen from above for the T20 World Cup squad. Shikhar Dhawan has an answer for it.
Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul both score half-century
In the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka, Shikhar Dhawan returned to the national team. As Rohit Sharma was rested, so, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan both opened the innings in that series. Rahul and Dhawan scored 45 and 32 runs respectively in the second T20I match. Dhawan was seen struggling against Sri Lanka in Indore because he was playing the international match after a break one month due to injury.
Though, The Delhi player got back the rhythm in the third T20I match scoring 52 runs with the strike rate of 144.44. While KL Rahul, as usual, played his classic shot, scoring 54 runs with the strike rate of 150. Both were the top performers in the last match of the series. Now, after Shikhar’s productive performance, selectors might be under dilemma.
Shikhar Dhawan don’t want to take the pressure
Shikhar Dhawan was relieved from his comeback knock in the recent T20I. He is delighted with his performance but doesn’t want to think much about his performance.
“Rahul in the last two-three months has played extremely well but now I have also come in the picture (after performing well in the third T20I). But it’s not my headache( he jokingly answered on who will between the two selected) so I don’t want to think much about it because it’s not in my hand,” Dhawan said while the media person laughed.
Last year in November, Shikhar Dhawan was injured during the domestic T20 tournament ahead of the home series against West Indies. His ouster gave a chance to KL Rahul. The Karnataka opener went on to impress with his knock, scoring 164 runs in the three-match T20I series against West Indies.
Before Shikhar got injured, he hadn’t a remarkable home T20I series against Bangladesh and South Africa. The major factor which makes KL Rahul above than Dhawan is the strike rate.
