New Zealand has lost the T20I series against India though there are still two games left to play. Moreover, It’s another bad news for New Zealand that their skipper and batting mainstay Kane Williamson will not feature in the fourth T20I match against India in Wellington on Friday (31st January).

The Black Caps on its official Twitter handle informed that Williamson has picked up a shoulder injury while playing third T20I match in Hamilton. Thus, he has been ruled out of the fourth T20I match scheduled at Westpac Stadium in Wellington. So, Pacer Tim Southee has been handed over the duty to lead the Kiwis team in the penultimate T20I.

“Captain Kane Williamson has been ruled out of tonight’s 4th T20I with a left-shoulder injury (AC joint) sustained while diving in the field in game 3. He will hopefully be available for the final game of the series at Bay Oval. Tim Southee will captain the side in T20I 4. #NZvIND”

Kane Williamson is  a top scorer for his team:

So far, New Zealand’s leader is the highest scorer in the T20I series. In the first T20I match, he scored a half-century but could not lead his team to victory while in the second T20I match he lost his wicket early. But in the do or die match at Hamilton, he played a prolific knock but again he had to face the defeat.

Asked to bat first India set the target of 180 runs in the third T20I match.

In reply, Williamson played his career-best T20I innings, scoring 95 runs off 48 balls. However, it went into vain. The game went to super over and unfortunately, the hosts could not defend the target of 18 runs. Rohit Sharma’s two maximum in the one-over eliminator led India to win three games on the trot.
