In the ongoing ODI series, the in-form batsman KL Rahul has scored a fine century against New Zealand in the third and final ODI at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Given the responsibility as a finisher, the right-hand batsman took the charge of the team when India lost the wicket of Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
At Bay Oval, Team India was a bit under pressure after the top order returned to the pavilion. It was another disappointing day for Mayank Agarwal. However, Prithvi Shaw managed to score 42-ball 40.
Both the openers could not set up partnership while Indian skipper Kohli also lost his wicket after scoring just nine runs.

However, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer and Rahul didn’t disappoint with their performances. Shreyas Iyer scored a half-century before getting out though Rahul built up the innings. He scored his fourth century in the ODI whereas first as a wicketkeeper.
The hard-hitting batsman also became the second Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score a century in overseas in ODI. Since 1999, it was for the first time that Indian gloveman managed to slam a hundred in the 50-over world.
Pertinently, Rahul Dravid has smashed the triple-figure mark back in 1999 when he scored 145 against Sri Lanka at Taunton.
Thus, Rahul has proved that he can score at any given position or situation. With his knock, Rahul has gathered praise from the cricket fanatics on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

7th 50+ score with 3 hundreds in last 12 ODI innings for KL Rahul, many doubted this man's ability and inclusion in team but he's currently the most consistent guy in both the formats for India. The best part was he proved himself at every given position!
Well done, @klrahul11. pic.twitter.com/YvNyZrbEDs
