The spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, at a time, were an inseparable partner in the Indian team. However, now they are rarely seen together in the playing XI. Team management’s decision to not include the duo together has raised many questions. Well, Yuzvendra Chahal has the answer to why the team prefers one of them.

Fondly, known as “KulCha” Jodi, Kuldeep and Chahal have enough ammunition to prove that their partnership can destroy the opposition. They haven’t featured in the shortest format since July 2018 while in ODIs, they both haven’t featured together after the ICC World Cup 2019.

Talking about their credentials, they have played 34 ODIs together and bagged 65 wickets at an average of 22.73. Even in T20Is, they boast a good record and have scalped 22 wickets in 10 matches.

Yuzvendra Chahal reveals the reason:

As the team management’s decision keeps surprising everyone, Chahal himself revealed the reason behind it. He revealed that Ravindra Jadeja’s remarkable show has forced team-management from playing him and Kuldeep together in the playing eleven. The right-arm spinner opined that Jadeja has convinced the team management with his bat as well as the ball. Thus, the team is finding difficulty to play them together.

“I think Jaddu pa (Ravindra Jadeja) is playing extraordinary well – be it in his fielding, batting or bowling. That is why I play half the games and Kuldeep plays the others. Our main motivation is that the team gets the right combination,” said Yuzvendra Chahal after the third ODI against New Zealand.

“Sometimes, all three of us have played together. Going forward, if there will be wickets favouring us, all of us will play together again,” he added.
Meanwhile, in the ODI series against New Zealand, Kuldeep featured in the first ODI where he proved to be the most expensive bowler.
So, in the next two games, Yuzvendra Chahal was given a chance. Even though he delivered goods, India went on to lose the series.
