Aakash Chopra has recently named the current best six hitters in modern-day era. It was no surprise in seeing all the big hitters in his list. It is cognisance of the fact that the game has evolved to a whole new level where batsmen are making the batting look so easy.

Chopra who closely follows cricket-related activities has picked three players from India, two from West Indies and one from South Africa.

The former Indian opener Aakash Chopra picked AB de Villiers at the sixth spot. We all know how dangerous if AB de Villiers gets going. His sheer destruction was recorded when he chipped in with a staggering 44-ball-149 in the home ODI match against West Indies in 2015. He hit 16 sixes during the passage of play. AB de Villiers has by far smashed 540 sixes in his career.

Aakash Chopra picks MS Dhoni as one among the power-hitter in modern-day cricket

The fifth on Chopra’s list is MS Dhoni. Captain Cool is the only skipper to have won all the three coveted ICC trophies – ICC T20 World Cup 2007, ICC ODI World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

When it comes to hitting sixes, his signature shot, ‘Helicopter’ often comes to our mind. MS Dhoni is a six-hitting phenom and has by far hit 568 sixes in his career.

Yuvraj Singh takes the fourth spot in Aakash Chopra’s lost. The elegant left-hander is known for the knack of playing big shots in his playing days.

Yuvraj still holds the record for smashing the fastest fifty in T20I cricket as he accomplished the feat in just 12 balls, wherein he hit six sixes in an over off Stuart Broad’s bowling. Yuvraj has smashed 400 sixes in his cricketing career.

Windies’ Andre Russell is on the six-hitters list:

The third hitter on the list in Andre Russell. The cricket fraternity witnessed his big-hitting master-class during the previous edition of the Indian Premier League.

The Caribbean has hit 219 sixes in his cricketing career.

The second player on the list is Rohit Sharma. Time and again, he has often hit sixes like a hot knife through butter.

Rohit holds the world record of scoring three double centuries in ODI cricket. The elegant right-handed batsman has hit 617 sixes – which is the most by any Indian cricketer.

The first player on the list is Christopher Henry Gayle. He is the only batsman who has hit the most number of sixes in cricketing career.

Just a flick of his muscular wrists and the ball goes out of the park and that’s Chris Gayle for you. He has hit a staggering 860 sixes in his career.
