Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is firm that MS Dhoni should continue playing for Team India. The former Indian captain is under sabbatical and hasn’t played a match after the disheartening semi-final against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2020.
As India lost the semis, Dhoni also made himself unavailable for the forthcoming series. He joined the Indian Army and then went on to a trip with his family. He was seen playing charity football matches and was seen trying every new thing during his break but hasn’t lifted a lid on his future.
Dhoni was expected to make a return to the cricketing circuit with IPL 2020 but with the tournament being postponed, Dhoni’s return looks a complicated task.

However, Irfan Pathan, who announced his retirement earlier this year, said that he believes in Dhoni’s skills will help the team.
Irfan said, “He obviously needs to play. If he does, he should for India. He is the most amazing cricketer we have. He has been fantastic for the country. He has given so much to the world of cricket. But if he is just drafted in, will it be fair for those who have been playing regularly is an important question.”
As he is okay with Dhoni’s readmission in the team, he also asked the question that who will make the way for the veteran. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are the options that India has been playing regularly as the wicketkeeper-batsman since Dhoni left the place vacant.

“KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been playing consistently for a year. So, this question needs to be answered by the board,” Pathan added.
Rishabh Pant has failed to impress the team management but on the other hand, Rahul has well taken the job. The KXIP captain has been a prolific performer behind the stumps as well as with the bat.
