Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been the match-winner for India in the mega event triumphs. His contribution during the ICC World Cup 2011 is unforgettable. He was suffering from pain but he decided to continue to play for India. Before that, he showed his masterstroke in the ICC World T20 2007 where he earned the name of sixer king after striking six sixes in an over. He has been a significant part of India’s victories at ICC events.

He was a reliable player in the middle order who usually took out India from difficult situations. But he failed to do so in the final of the ICC World T20 2014 for which he was lashed out by fans and media.

In that match against Sri Lanka, Yuvraj played slow innings of his career, scoring 11 off 21 delivers. India could only set a moderate target of 131 runs. After that tournament, Yuvraj was under the radar for his poor performance.

Yuvraj Singh has bad memories with World Cup 2014

When he returned home after that mega-event, the media bashed him in the airport. He also found stones in his house which made him feel like a culprit. He also felt that he was a villain.

“I always take full responsibility (for that inning). I did not play well. Unfortunately, that was a World Cup final. If it was any other game, scrutiny would not have been much. When I got back home, I felt like I was a villain. I remember getting out from the airport and luckily I had my headphones on…I got attacked by the media and they were literally shouting at me,” Yuvraj said on Sportscreen’s YouTube page.

“Yes there were some stones in my house as well. I felt like a culprit, like somebody has shot somebody and was going to jail. I bounced back from it. I still remember how I felt in that moment, ” Yuvraj added.

Sri Lanka won the tournament with the help of Kuma Sangakar’s gritty fifty. India lost that final by six wickets.
