What words run through your mind when you think of the Indian Premier League (IPL)? Most watched and popular league, entertainment or India’s cricket carnival. Well, some also term the league as a money-making machine because of the involvement of a heavy amount of money and star-stud players. Many individuals look it as a mere business while some considered it to be designed for personal financial gain by BCCI.
Arun Dhumal, BCCI treasurer, has slammed those who only consider IPL as a money-making machine. He has lashed out those who have questioned BCCI’s motive behind the inception of the league. Counting the pros of the tournament, he has urged media and cricket audiences to change the wrong perspective formed related to India’s league.

“This whole talk that IPL is a money-making machine, so be it. Who takes that money? That money goes to the players, that money doesn’t go to any office bearers. That money goes to the welfare of the nation, the travel and tourism industry, in terms of industries being revived, in terms of taxes being paid,” Dhumal told Cricbuzz.
“So why opposition for the money? Money is paid to the players and all those people who are there to organise the tournament. Media has to change the stance and tell about the benefit of this tournament that is happening.
BCCI is trying hard to organise IPL 2020
Meanwhile, considering the current situation across the globe, the feasibility of the IPL still looks bleak. Several reports have suggested that the BCCI is trying its best to host the tournament in the latter part of the year to avoid an anticipated loss of INR 4000 crores.
The 13th edition of the IPL was set to start from 29th March, but because of the coronavirus outbreak, the league has been postponed indefinitely.
