India’s head coach Ravi Shastri, on his official Twitter account, posted a congratulatory message for Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma for receiving Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Award respectively.
The two Indian cricketers will join the award ceremony virtually on 29th August because of the coronavirus pandemic they would not directly receive the prestigious award from the President Ram Nath Kovind.
Rohit Sharma will become the fourth Indian cricketer to be adjudged with India’s highest sporting honour. The other three cricketers who have received the Khel Ratna Award are the two retired cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and India’s current captain Virat Kohli. On the other hand, Ishant Sharma will become the 27th athlete to receive the Arjuna Award.

Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma in action in the UAE:
Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma will be seen in action in the upcoming IPL edition in the UAE starting from 19th September. Currently, Rohit has landed in the UAE with his family and will go under the quarantine period before hitting the grounds. On the other hand, Ishant Sharma will reach along with his Delhi Capitals this weekend.
Ishant and Rohit had sustained injuries during their last tour of New Zealand. The pacer, in the practice session, had endured ankle injury while the hitman surfaced with a calf injury during the last match of the T20I series against Kiwis.
During the extended break, both the prominent players got enough time to recover from their respective injuries. Rohit Sharma had shared several workout videos and pictures on his official account while Ishant has posted the pictures of him practicing in the nets
After the break of over five months, they would be playing a competitive match. Fans are also excited to see their favourites during the 53-day tournament in the UAE.
