When Stuart Broad completed his 500 Test wicket last month, he had already reflected that he wanted a career like his teammate James Anderson. Now, after Anderson entered 600 Test wicket club, Broad stated that every England cricketer should follow Anderson as the role model.

On the day five of the last and third Test match, Anderson achieved the unique feat. There was heavy rain at the start of the match which delayed the start of the match. Only 25 overs were bowled on the last day and James Anderson was lucky to pick the last wicket to complete 600 Test wickets. He just the fourth bowler and the only pacer in the cricket history to pick 600 Test scalp. The spinners Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble are the others which hold this record.

Stuart Broad lauded James Anderson for becoming the only England cricketer to hold the illustrious record. He has opined that the 38-year-old Anderson is the role model for his countrymen. Broad added that this unique record won’t stop Anderson to move forward in his career.

“He’s a role model to follow for every English cricketer… He’s always searching to be better and better and 600 won’t be the stopping of him.”

Many had expected that James Anderson would retire soon because of his age but the veteran quashed all the rumours. Moreover, after registering the record, he expressed that he was aiming at 700 Test wickets. Anderson has, so far, featured in 156 Test matches. The unstoppable pacer is raring to play the Ashes series next year.

Meanwhile, as far as the three-match series is concerned, England has first time won the series against Pakistan for a decade. The host won the first Test and the other two Test matches ended in a draw because of the rain interruption.
