Suresh Raina Writes Letter To J&K DGP To Promote Cricket In Building 'Promising Tomorrow For India' 1

After retiring from the international cricket earlier this month, Suresh Raina has expressed his wish to share his 15 years of experience with the underprivileged kids in erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to inspire them to become the future cricketers.

Suresh Raina, who is currently in the UAE for featuring in the IPL 2020, wrote a letter of proposal to the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh. He has offered his support to promote cricket in the Union Territory.

The former Indian cricketer wrote that he would hunt right talented children and polish their skills to contribute to the national cricket team. He would aim at schools, colleges and rural areas of J&K to scout the future cricketers.

“I write this letter with much hope and expectation to start and promote cricket and thus provide an opportunity for the underprivileged children from the state of Jammu & Kashmir to shape their career in cricket.

“I have etched a mark on the field of international cricket for more than 15 years and thus I would like to make use of the knowledge and skills I learned over years to the next generation. My intention is to find out the talented youngsters or children from various parts including schools’ colleges and rural areas of J&K. I would like to use this opportunity to find the right talented children and polish their skills and contribute to the national team as a treasure for future cricket teams,” Suresh Raina has written in his letter accessed by India Today.

Suresh Raina also shared a brief five-point plan to make his mission a success. Talent hunting, mental toughness training and skill training are the highlights in his 5-point agenda.

“Nevertheless, to say this would require an immense amount of efforts and
process which includes as below:

1. Talent hunt from schools, colleges and rural areas of J&K.
2. Organizing Masterclasses.
3. Mental toughness courses.
4. Physical fitness.
5. Skill training.”

Further, Suresh Raina said that cricket help children to evolve throughout. It would help them to become more disciplined and healthy both mentally and physically.

“Cricket is not just a sport but it evolves a process which could shape and mold a group of individuals with professional ethics, discipline maintained further in their future life, staying fit and healthy both mentally and physically. When a child undergoes the training for any sports activities he or she is automatically adapted to the discipline of lifestyle as well as aware of the importance of physical fitness.”

As per him, this program would help in creating a promising tomorrow for India through these children.

“These could be the future of our nation. I am much determined I can use this opportunity in creating a promising tomorrow for our country through these children,” read the rest of Raina’s letter.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina will now only be seen playing for the Chennai Super Kings. He announced his sudden retirement on 15th August.
