Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is scheduled to begin on the 19th of September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The season opener will be played between the two finalists of the last edition- Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. It is a 53 days long league during which 56 matches will be played, including playoffs and the grand finale, in three venues- Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
The eight franchises have already landed, with their players and staff members, in the UAE last month. After following the six days quarantine period, the teams started their practice sessions, maintaining the bio-secure bubble. Mumbai Indians lead by Rohit Sharma is the most successful franchise of the IPL, winning four IPL titles. The defending champion has the most balanced team with the likes of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, and other star players.
But behind them is also a strong supporting staff. They have a head coach as Sri Lanka’s great players Mahela Jayawardene, who joined the team in 2018. Zaheer Khan, India’s successful pacer, is their Director of Cricket Operation.
Apart from them, MI has batting mentor Sachin Tendulkar, batting coach Robin Singh, bowler coach Shane Bond, and fielding coach James Palmant. The team’s physio is Nitin Patel.
