Bollywood star Naseeruddin Shah is an avid follower of cricket — and he has named his favourite current cricketer, which many of you will be surprised on knowing. The Indian cricket fans are usually split into liking Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or MS Dhoni in the current times, but the case is not the same with Naseeruddin Shah.

With the IPL set to begin this Saturday the cricket fans are too hyped to see their favourite cricketers playing in the competition. The fans are more eager to see the Indian cricketers who have not played since the lockdown.

The IPL will be played in UAE this season, the change in venue was commanded because of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in India. The matches in IPL 2020 will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

The 13th edition of IPL was originally scheduled to kick off from March 29 was postponed indefinitely after April 15 due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the nation.

Naseeruddin Shah names his favourite current cricketer

In an interview with website Film Companion, Bollywood great Naseeruddin Shah was asked to name his favourite current cricketer. IPL and Bollywood simultaneously have been the glamour hubs of India and share a deep connection.

When Naseerudin was asked about his favourite current cricketer, his response was: “Ravichandran Ashwin”.

R. Ashwin was considered to be a T20 specialist when he first broke into Team India, but he’s currently only representing them in the Test format. He hasn’t played any limited-overs match for India since 2017. He will be repping the DC colours in IPL 2020 after being traded by KXIP.

Shah was also asked to name the best Indian cricket captain of all time and he answered: “Mansur Ali Khan”.

Ravichandran Ashwin set to debut for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020

R. Ashwin will feature with Delhi Capitals side in this IPL after he was released from KXIP side which he captained last year. He has 125 scalps to his name making 139 total appearances in the league. The Delhi Capitals will play their first match against Ashwin’s former side on 20th September.

The Indian Premier League will be played in UAE amid the Coronavirus pandemic and will be held in three venues Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah from September 19 to November 10 amid COVID-19 protocols laid down by the ICC and BCCI.
