Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir believes that Mumbai Indians have an upper hand in comparison to Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The much-awaited IPL 2020 commence from this Saturday (September 19).
Gambhir, who has led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in two IPL title wins, said that the addition of Tren Boult with already presence of Jasprit Bumrah has made Mumbai Indians squad more lethal.
The two fast bowlers are the best and can break the back of any opposition. With now both playing together for MI, Gambhir has high hopes from MI this year.

“I am very excited to see how Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah will be bowling together with the new ball. Because Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult are world-class bowlers and both of them are wicket-taking options in T20 cricket.”
“A left-arm seamer who brings the ball in for right-handers and Jasprit Bumrah who is unorthodox,” Gautam Gambhir said.
Mumbai Indians have the upper hand: Gautam Gambhir

As per Gautam Gambhir, a huge challenge awaits for CSK this season because their batting mainstay Suresh Raina had pulled out of the league. On the other hand, Shane Watson, who is also CSK’s vital cog, has not much experience in facing the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.
“It will be a huge challenge for Chennai Super Kings as they don’t have Suresh Raina at No.3, plus Shane Watson does not play much international cricket and has not played cricket for a long time, so how he plays against Bumrah and Trent Boult. We will also have to see with whom he would be opening the batting,” Gambhir stated.
Therefore, Gautam believes Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians to have higher chances to grab the trophy again. He said that they had more balanced and depth in their squad compared to CSK.
“I feel the Mumbai Indians have the upper hand if you see the balance and depth of the squad,” Gautam Gambhir concluded.
Meanwhile, CSK and MI will play the season opener on 19th of September in the UAE.
