Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Trainer Ramji Srinivasan has hailed MS Dhoni’s reflexes and has compared them with some of the top racing drivers around the world.

His remark came after many have criticised MS Dhoni’s form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The CSK captain retired from international cricket in August this year. He had made himself unavailable after the World Cup 2019 end. Before playing the IPL, he hadn’t played a competitive match for over a year. Thus, several had opined that Dhoni had lost his shine.

But Ramji, who had also worked with the Indian national cricket team, said that it is a matter of more warming up to get back into the groove while praising MS Dhoni’s reflexes. He said that the wicketkeeper-batsman had a reflex of 0.32 second which is as good as some racers.

“Did you see him stumping Prithvi Shaw? That is what comes with reflex. He has a reflex of 0.32 second which is top quality. Some of the racing drivers around the world have the same timing if you calculate. The range for top athletes is 0.30 sec to 0.45 sec. The lesser the better. The elite racer will be below the 0.36 sec mark,” he explained.

MS Dhoni had not got much opportunity to bat because he has pushed himself down the order at no.7. In the opener match against Mumbai Indians, he faced only two balls that remained not out but scored no runs. However, CSK won that match.

Against Rajasthan Royals, Dhoni showed his power with the bat, striking consecutive sixes to Tom Curran in the last over but it was too late. The Chennai lost that match by 16 runs.

CSK consecutively lost the second match against Delhi Capitals by 44 runs. In that match, Dhoni amassed 15 runs off 12 balls.
