Former Indian bowler Irfan Pathan has stated that he feels MS Dhoni should come and bat at least 10 overs for CSK. The CSK side has been struggling after losing two consecutive matches. They won their opening match against MI with an important knock of 71 runs from Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu had a hamstring strain issue and missed the next two matches and CSK batting looked weak with only Faf du Plessis consistently performing for the team.
CSK have missed Suresh Raina who had withdrawn his name from the tournament, citing personal reasons. Raina is the top scorer in IPL for CSK.

Pathan said it is the first time he sees the CSK is unsettled in the tournament. He pointed out CSK’s mistake of not replacing Suresh Raina who had opted out of the league this season. Irfan Pathan also mentioned CSK’s problem of only playing 5 bowlers in the team and Dhoni not using Kedhar Jadhav to bowl.
“For the first time it is looking that the Chennai Super Kings team is not settled. They had problems before the start of the IPL, Suresh Raina went back and they have not taken a replacement for him till now,” Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports’ show Cricket Connected.
“Because of that there have been lot of problems in the team composition. If Suresh Raina had been batting at No.3, they could have played an extra bowler. Currently, they have only 5 bowlers. Kedar Jadhav not being bowled by MS Dhoni is also a cause of concern,” he added.
‘MS Dhoni Should Play At Least 10 Overs For CSK’: Irfan Pathan
The former Indian pacer has opined that CSK skipper MSD, being the great batsman he is, should ensure that he plays at least 10 overs. Pathan also said that Chennai need to field an extra bowler.
“The teams which have been playing with an additional bowler in the IPL are looking stronger. More than a finisher, MS Dhoni is himself such a great finisher. He needs to ensure that he plays at least 10 overs and Chennai Super Kings must field an extra bowler. Then the rest of the things will be set,” said Irfan Pathan.
There is a huge relief for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they receive the boost of Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo who are fit to play now. CSK will next face SunRisers Hyderabad on October 2nd at the Dubai International Stadium.
