Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg is not assured that Rohit Sharma would get a spot in the Test team considering his record in the extended period in a foreign land. Thus, he also not look at him as the option for captaincy in the last three Test matches against Australia when Virat Kohli will be on paternity leave.

In the absence of Team India’s regular captain, his deputy in Test Ajinkya Rahane is likely to lead the team. But some cricket boffins didn’t look at Rahane as the right option for the captain’s job. As Rohit has proven his captaincy skill in the IPL and on various occasions while leading Team India in shorter formats, pundits consider him as the right choice.

However, Brad Hogg picks up Rahane for captaining Team India when a fan on Twitter asked his thought.

“Rahane will do a fine job. The only other option would be Rohit but his record touring in Test Cricket provides no certainty of him holding a spot in the team,” Hogg tweeted.

Virat Kohli will be with the team during the white-ball series and until the first Test match, which will be played under the light in Adelaide. He will leave for India to be with his wife Anushka Sharma, who is expecting the birth of the first child in January. He is a massive contributor with the bat, and his absence is no doubt going to hurt the team’s performance.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who is only available to play for the Test series, has overall played 32 Test matches, including five Test matches against Australia. His will play a huge role in the series to defend the trophy, but his inexperience in Australia’s condition is somewhat to worry.

The first Test will begin on December 17 while the second and third Tests will be played on December 26 and January 7 in Melbourne and Sydney respectively. The last and fourth match will be played from January 15 in Brisbane.
