The five Indian players- who were seen dining in a restaurant in the viral video-have been isolated as a precautionary measure by Cricket Australia (CA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The players include Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Navdeep Saini, Shubman Gill, and Prithvi Shaw.

An Indian fan had tweeted the video where he revealed that he had hugged the wicketkeeper-batsman Pant. But later, he clarified that they didn’t have any physical contact with the player and apologised for the miscommunication.

However, Cricket Australia has proclaimed that the aforementioned five players have been separated from the Indian and Australian squads but will still train with the players but according to the protocols.

“In accordance with the strict protocols that have been put in place to ensure the ongoing safety of all members of the Indian and Australian squads,” said a Cricket Australia statement on Saturday night.

“The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter and seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.

“In the interim, on the advice of the Australian and Indian medical teams, the aforementioned players have been placed in isolation as a precaution. This will include separating the group of players from the broader Indian and Australian squads when traveling and at the training venue.”

Notably, Rohit Sharma is joining the team after a strict 14-days mandatory quarantine period. And another isolation period might be tough for him.

Here is the video shared by the fan:

Singh suggested on Friday that he paid the bill for the table then hugged Pant, although on Saturday he claimed there was no hug and players kept their distance.

Meanwhile, currently, the series between India and Australia is levelled with 1-1. The visitors made a strong comeback, winning the second Test match by eight wickets after an embarrassing defeat in the first Test. Rohit Sharma will be joining them for the third Test, which is scheduled to begin on January 7.
